The government’s ambitious climate plan has been criticised by two leading energy agencies for lacking detail on how costly retrofits will be financed.
Tipperary Energy Agency and 3 Counties Energy Agency said the plan did not present a solution to low-cost long-term finance options for home retrofits. They said that the cost of retrofitting a home to the standard of the B2 building energy rating, as specified by the climate plan, was between €25,000 and €50,000, depending on the age and size of the house.
