Sustainable Energy Communities – South East SEC Webinar Series

Online Information Events for Communities to be part of the Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC) Programme

The aim of these events is to provide basic information and introduce community groups from the South East to the SEC programme, highlighting the recruitment process, community engagement, grants, and funding opportunities. We will provide helpful tips on how to register as a Community for the SEC programme and what you need to do to be successful.

This webinar series will encourage communities in the South East of the country to engage with the SEC programme. The informative events will take place online with each event focusing on a separate topic.

The event will offer a chance for all attendee’s to:

• Understand the upcoming SEC programme

Jane Wickham of 3 Counties Energy Agency is the South East SEC Regional Coordinator and she will be hosting the first online event on the 22nd of September 2020. The first online event will focus on recruiting community groups for the programme and will begin at 11am. The webinar will involve a presentation to introduce the SEC programme to attendees, followed by a Q&A session to conclude.

The Government’s Climate Action Plan recognises the central role of communities in achieving our climate action ambitions.

What is Communities Energy Grant (BEC)?

Over the past 5 years 3cea has assisted in the delivery of cumulative energy savings of more than €19.6 million through the Communities Energy Grant (BEC) initiative. 3cea team has been successful in securing grant funding for communities and businesses across all sectors.

Better Energy Communities is a national retrofit initiative managed by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI). BEC offers a win-win grant aid solution for parish halls, GAA clubs, farmers, charitable organisations, community groups, public authorities, individuals and businesses to both lower their energy bills while reducing energy usage.

A new grant for Solar PV for farmers under the TAMS on-farm investment scheme announced

A new grant for Solar PV for farmers opening shortly!

A series of new grants available for Irish farms under the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS) on-farm investment scheme has been announced by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Michael Creed.

The new measure will make €10 million worth of grants available for energy efficiencies and renewable energy technologies, following a comprehensive review of the TAMS scheme designed to increase its focus on sustainability.

Eligible investments include:

  1. Solar PV Installation on Farms – to extend current availability under the scheme to all sectors. Grant aid in this initial pilot phase of up to €9,300 or up to 60% of the overall cost will be available to fund a 6kWp solar system;
  2. LED Lighting – all lighting funded under the scheme will be required to be LED lighting. LED Lighting uses a fraction of the electricity consumed by conventional lighting. The current specifications for TAMS II include lighting in all new farm structures. In future, only LED lighting only will now be grant aided.

SEAI Grant funding up to €500,000 announced for Dairy Farm milk pumps

Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Richard Bruton TD announced funding for energy efficient dairy farm equipment on Monday, February 18th 2019.

Grant funding of up to €500,000 is now available for high-efficiency milk pumps, saving the average farmer €1,440 in energy bills and 1.6t in reduced carbon emissions annually. Read more

First Successful projects under Climate Action Fund announced – 3CEA to secure investment of €1.4 million towards transport HGV fleetmatics project

The Government has announced the first batch of successful projects that will receive investment under the Climate Action Fund – 3 Counties Energy Agency delighted to be announced as 1 out of the 7 successful projects.

This is a real chance for 3CEA to reduce energy across our region & beyond.

7 major climate change projects to share €77 million government funding, leveraging a total investment of €300 million in round one of the scheme

Government launches domestic solar power grant for homeowners

Save money on energy bills.

The Government has launched a new grant scheme encouraging homeowners to install solar power generators.

The pilot scheme offers grants for the installation of solar photovoltaic panels and battery storage systems. SEAI grant offers homeowners up to €3,800 to support the installation of Solar PV panels and battery energy storage systems. This will reduce the electricity a homeowner currently purchases from a supplier and can save you around €220 a year in electricity costs by taking advantage of the scheme.  Read more

Minister Denis Naughten launches ‘Call for Applications’ under the Government’s new €500 million Climate Action Fund.

Minister Naughten is today launching the first Call for Applications under the Government’s new €500m Climate Action Fund to support initiatives that will help Ireland reach its climate and energy targets. The deadline for applications is 1st October 2018.
